This 16"x20" Oils, Acrylics on Canvas painting by Stephen Stocklin is dominated by a monochromatic palette of whites, grays, and charcoal blacks, with unexpected pops of muted yellow and coral red. Thick, gestural white brushstrokes create cloud-like formations across the upper two-thirds of the canvas, while a horizontal gray band anchors the middle. The lower third features a dense, textured accumulation of dark marks and scraped layers with small yellow accents breaking through.
The painting evokes the tension between order and chaos—like a storm breaking apart, revealing glimpses of light through turbulent skies. The heavy darkness grounding the bottom suggests the weight we carry, while the expansive white above offers the possibility of release and clarity emerging from complexity.
16x20 Limited Edition Print: printed, signed, and numbered on 16x20 heavyweight paper.
